It was always Marike's dream to become an artist. When her art teacher told her there is no future in fine arts, she lost faith in her abilities. She then did wedding photography for a year as her only creative outlet.
After studying Graphic Design at the AAA School of Advertising for two years, she worked as a video editor and started drawing in her free time. Marike then started painting in 2006 and spent the whole of 2007 to prepare for her first solo exhibition in 2008.
